The Man

Written date: 27 APR 2019

[Verse 1]

It all began with a man
He dreamed a noble dream
Gathered brutes that became a troop
They marched and conquered land

Passed down from fathers to sons
Generations lived in peace
The land was rich, river full of fish
Till when the war begun

Thousand years, countless lives
Same old land, different tribes

[Verse 2]

But then the line was scorned
Peasant man will take no more
Up arose, from one of their own
Who led to start a war

The smoke began to fade
Countries run by the common man
They believed in equality
But everything was staged

God is pure, and so is gold
He is righteous, so we’re told

[Verse 3]

Though many things have changed
But the rules have stayed the same
The ruling few, the working class
And the cycle starts again

All forgotten his name
Coz it’s a long long time ago
But generations kept on the tradition
Of man overruling man

[Bridge]

Pitting the poor against the weak
Garner for more, wade war, repeat
Shelter the rich with human lives
How can we hide behind a wall of lies?

[Outro]

Though many things have changed
But the rules have stayed the same
The ruling few, the working class
And the cycle starts again
